GitHub Certification Steps

For first-time GitHub certification seekers, please complete the following steps from Step 1 (Preparation) to Step 4 (Exam Application). After registering your certification, please carry out Step 5 (Certification Renewal) when it's time to renew.

Certification Acquisition Steps

      Preparation

      Before taking training courses and certification exams offered by cloud vendors to partners, you'll need an account.

      Creating a GitHub Account

      Create a personal GitHub account to apply for an exam.

      • GitHub determines eligibility based on the domain.
      • If you are designated to receive a voucher, you should register using a company domain email address.
      • If you already have an Enterprise GitHub account that you use for business, you do not need to create a new account.

      Identification Requirements GitHub

      Valid government-issued photo identification with your name, photo, and signature is required to take the GitHub certification exam. If you do not have one, please be sure to obtain it before your exam date. Details on acceptable forms of identification are available at the URL below.

      Microsoft Learn offers training on various Microsoft services, including GitHub. Its GitHub certification-specific learning paths are ideal for exam preparation.

      Notes Regarding GitHub Vouchers:

      The GenAI Professional Talent Development Initiative provides vouchers issued by GitHub. Unlike Microsoft vouchers, GitHub vouchers do not have voucher numbers. If you are designated to receive a voucher, you can proceed directly to register for the certification exam without waiting for a voucher number (paid or free status is determined by your domain address).

      Not all employees will be eligible for a Microsoft certification voucher.
      Currently, the primary audience of these vouchers are within the DSS and CI Sector.
      If you are interested and obtaining a voucher, please first consult with your supervisor and, if approved, then consult with your HR department. Thank you!

      • The voucher will expire after the designated period. Please be sure to take the certification exam within the deadline.
      • If you are not designated to receive a voucher, you will be responsible for 100% of the examination fee.
